Alexandria, LA, for release (7/10/26)
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is providing a critical update regarding the active police investigation announced yesterday.
In a joint operation, APD and partner law enforcement agencies secured and searched a scene located near the intersection of Christine Drive and Moss Point Drive in Boyce, Louisiana. During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered human remains in the 100 block of Christine Drive.
While an official autopsy is pending to confirm the identity, preliminary evidence strongly indicates that the recovered remains are those of 22-year-old JaKobey Kahey, who was reported missing on July 5, 2026.
This discovery follows the transition of the missing person case into a suspected homicide investigation earlier this week. That development previously resulted in the arrests of two suspects, who have both been charged with Second-Degree Murder.
“This was a horrific crime that shook our entire community, and from the very beginning our detectives refused to give up. The determination, professionalism, and relentless work displayed by investigators with the Alexandria Police Department and the Louisiana State Police were nothing short of exceptional”, said Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion.
“The VCAT (Violent Crime Abatement Team) initiative between the Alexandria Police Department and the Louisiana State Police played a critical role in identifying, tracking, and ultimately arresting those responsible while also helping locate JaKobey. This team of detectives stayed on this tirelessly since day one. This case is a testament to what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together with a common mission.
“Working hand in hand with the Louisiana State Police and the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office, we were able to bring those responsible to justice and provide long-awaited answers and closure to JaKobey’s family. While nothing can erase the pain they have endured, I hope they find some measure of peace knowing that everyone involved in this investigation remained committed until the very end.
“To every investigator who dedicated countless hours to this case, thank you. Your commitment ensured that this terrible crime would not go unanswered.”
