Alexandria, LA, for release (7/9/26)
On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Alexandria Police Department responded to a local hotel in the 1000 block of MacArthur Drive in reference to an armed, barricaded individual threatening suicide.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Alexandria Police Department’s SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene and began efforts to safely resolve the situation.
During the incident, the armed, barricaded individual exited through a fourth-floor window and attempted to escape by using a bedsheet. The individual fell approximately three stories while still armed.
The individual sustained serious injuries from the fall and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, officers secured the hotel room and recovered several additional firearms.
The investigation remains ongoing. At this time, there is no threat to the public.
Chief Chad Gremillion commended the professionalism and restraint shown by responding personnel.
“Our officers, SWAT team, and crisis negotiators worked diligently to bring this situation to a peaceful resolution while protecting everyone involved. Incidents involving individuals in crisis are among the most challenging we face, and we remain committed to responding with professionalism, compassion, and concern for public safety.”
No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
This is currently an ongoing investigation.
