Alexandria Police Quickly Arrest 15-Year-Old Suspect in Shooting That Injured 14-Year-Old

Alexandria, LA, for release (11/1/26)

Alexandria Police responded to 6101 North Bolton Avenue around 1 p.m. today following reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old juvenile suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.Through a quick response and immediate investigative efforts, Alexandria Police officers were able to identify and arrest a 15-year-old suspect in connection with the shooting. The suspect has been charged with two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

Chief Chad Gremillion stressed the seriousness of juveniles possessing firearms and the devastating consequences that can result when children have access to guns.
“Let me be clear: there is no excuse for a 14- or 15-year-old to possess a firearm. It is reckless, dangerous, and completely unacceptable. These are children, and when they get their hands on guns, people get hurt, and people die. Parents and guardians need to know where their children are, who they are associating with, and whether they have access to firearms. We cannot continue to stand by while juveniles put guns in their hands and put innocent lives at risk. If we want to stop this violence, accountability must start at home. APD will continue to aggressively pursue those responsible for gun violence, regardless of their age. We will not accept this behavior in our community.”

Alexandria Police report no homicides in September or October of 2026. Despite today’s incident, Alexandria’s shooting statistics show an 11% decrease compared to this time last year in shootings.
While the decrease is encouraging, Chief Gremillion emphasized that every shooting is one too many.

“We will continue to aggressively investigate violent crime and hold those responsible accountable. But law enforcement cannot solve this problem alone. Parents, families, and the community must step up and help stop juveniles from getting access to firearms before another child is injured or killed.”

The Alexandria Police Department will continue its aggressive efforts to investigate shootings, arrest violent offenders, and protect the citizens of Alexandria.
This is currently an ongoing investigation.
