Alexandria, LA, for release (7/1/26)

On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Alexandria Police Department arrested 64-year-old Daniel Wallace Jr. in connection with the Sunday, June 28, 2026, shooting in the 2500 block of Mason Street.  Wallace was charged with attempted second-degree murder.

“I want to recognize the exceptional work our detectives put into solving this gun crime. They spent countless hours following leads, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and building a case that will help ensure justice is served. Their dedication reflects the commitment of the Alexandria Police Department to making our city safer.”

“But law enforcement cannot do it alone. Public safety is a shared responsibility. I am asking every member of our community to take ownership of what happens in your neighborhoods. If you know someone who is illegally possessing a firearm or engaging in violent criminal activity, don’t ignore it or make excuses for it. Speak up. Report it. Too many lives are being changed forever because people choose to look the other way. Together, we can reduce gun violence by refusing to tolerate illegal guns and those who use them to harm others. It takes all of us working together to make Alexandria a safer place to live.” — Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion

This is currently an ongoing investigation.
