Alexandria, LA, for release (8/4/26)
On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 1:45 a.m., the Alexandria Police Department arrested four juveniles, all residents of Bunkie, Louisiana, along with 19-year-old Mariana Byrd of Alexandria, in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred on the west side of Alexandria.
The arrests stem from an ongoing investigation into a rash of vehicle burglaries reported between July 30 and August 4, 2026. Through the course of the investigation, Alexandria Police Department detectives developed information linking the four juveniles and Byrd to multiple vehicle burglaries committed throughout the affected area.
Investigators also determined that the same four juveniles had been arrested by the Bunkie Police Department just two days earlier in connection with a separate series of vehicle burglaries in Bunkie.
The four juveniles were charged through the juvenile justice system in connection with the Alexandria investigation and were placed in the Renaissance Juvenile Detention Center pending further court proceedings. Because they are juveniles, no additional identifying information will be released.
Mariana Byrd, 19, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with 12 counts of Vehicle Burglary and four counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Investigators allege that Byrd transported and assisted the juveniles during the commission of the vehicle burglaries, resulting in the additional charges.
The Alexandria Police Department worked closely with the Bunkie Police Department throughout the investigation and would like to thank the agency for its cooperation and assistance in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.
Chief Chad Gremillion praised the partnership between the two agencies, stating:
“Criminal activity doesn’t stop at city limits, and neither does our commitment to protecting our communities. This investigation is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together and share information. Thanks to the outstanding cooperation between the Alexandria and Bunkie Police Departments, those responsible were quickly identified and taken into custody. I commend the hard work of everyone involved in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are continuing to determine whether these individuals may be connected to any additional vehicle burglaries in Alexandria or surrounding jurisdictions.
