On Monday, May 20, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM the Alexandria Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Elliott Street in reference to someone being stabbed. Responding officers located the victim who was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect, 39-year-old Michael Jarrell of Alexandria, LA briefly barricaded himself in a residence in the 1700 block of Elliott Street. After a brief standoff, Jarrell was taken into custody and charged with one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery, one count of Disturbing the Peace, one count of Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence, and two counts of Battery on a Police Officer. Four Alexandria Police Officers suffered minor injuries in the apprehension of Jarrell.
