Shooting In The 1900 Block Of Kelly Street

Alexandria, LA, for release (6/16/26)

On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 11:00 AM, the Alexandria Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Kelly Street in reference to a shooting. Responding officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Officers were also able to locate the suspect, 27-year-old Devonte Taylor, on scene. Taylor was arrested and charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Taylor was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

This is currently an ongoing investigation.
