Alexandria, LA for release (8/27/26)
On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department responded to a serious injury crash involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Sterkx Road and MacArthur Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a person riding a bicycle entered the northbound lanes of MacArthur Drive from Sterkx Road without stopping at the traffic control device and was struck by a northbound pickup truck.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
Routine toxicology testing was performed, and results are pending..
The crash remains under investigation by the Alexandria Police Department.
