The Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting incident yesterday evening around 7:00 p.m. on Lancaster Drive. Thanks to the quick action of APD officers, suspects involved in the altercation were swiftly apprehended. The incident was determined to be a confrontation between rival groups, and there is no indication that the shooting was a random act of violence. One juvenile was injured in the shooting and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Contrary to rumors, there was no shooting at the Texas Roadhouse or any businesses in the MacArthur Village shopping area. At no time were patrons or employees in the vicinity of the businesses in harm’s way.
The Alexandria Police Department continues to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Residents in the Castle Village area are asked to contact the Alexandria Police if they have any video footage or information that may aid the investigation.
APD Chief Chad Gremillion commended the swift response of officers, who apprehended one group behind the restaurant shortly after the shooting occurred. “We are grateful for the assistance of our partners with the Louisiana State Police and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, and for the rapid coordination between our teams to bring this situation under control,” Chief Gremillion said.
As this investigation evolves, more information will be released.
