APD Responds to Incident in the area of Lancaster Drive

There is no threat to public safety in the vicinity of the MacArthur Village Shopping Center at this time. Reports that a shooting occurred at a local steakhouse were incorrect.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM there was gunfire exchanged between two vehicles in the area of Lancaster Drive. This is unacceptable and involves juveniles. The Alexandria Police Department was able to immediately intercede and detain the individuals involved in the vicinity of the MacArthur Village Shopping Center. This apprehension led to false conclusions and emphasizes the need to await facts. It has been determined one individual involved in the initial incident was injured and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. It is too early to comment any further on details that are still being investigated.

More details concerning this incident will be released at the appropriate time.
