Arrest Made in Rapides Avenue Shooting

On Thursday, September 26, 2024 the Alexandria Police Department executed a joint operation with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department in the 3600 block of Green Meadow Drive that ended with the successful capture of 25-year-old Jvaughn Barnes of Alexandria LA.  Barnes was wanted in connection with the September 21, 2024 shooting in the 1100 block of Rapides Avenue.  Barnes was charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

“We thank our partners at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this joint investigation.  Violent crime has no place in our communities, and we stand together, committed, to bring those individuals responsible for these senseless acts to justice” said Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion.

This is currently an ongoing investigation.
