On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at approximately 7:15 AM, the Alexandria Police Department responded to a rapidly evolving chain of events. It all began with a female forcing her way into a home in the 2100 block of Polk Street and discharging a firearm. The female then fled from Polk Street and carjacked a vehicle in the 2100 block of White Street, forcing the driver to transport her to an ATM on Jackson Street. After exiting that vehicle, she walked to a parking lot in the 1400 block of MacArthur Drive, where she carjacked another vehicle and forced the driver to leave the area. Thanks to information provided by citizens over the phone, the carjacked vehicle was located and stopped. The assailant, 27-year-old Anais Brown of Simmesport, LA, was taken into custody. Fortunately, no one was injured during these events. The Alexandria Police Department was able to successfully apprehend the assailant within less than thirty minutes, despite the events taking place rapidly across three different locations involving several victims.
“The quick response from our officers prevented any injuries and led to a swift resolution of these crimes,” stated Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion.
Brown was charged with three counts of Aggravated Kidnapping, Home Invasion, Illegal Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
This is currently an ongoing investigation.
