D.A.R.E

The Alexandria Police Department’s D.A.R.E. officer instructs elementary/middle school students in a classroom environment of the D.A.R.E. curriculum including effects of drugs, building self-esteem, drug awareness, bullying, and gang avoidance; including lesson plans and grade school projects.  He interacts with students, school administrators, teachers and parents outside of the classroom environment.

The DARE Officer prepares, organizes, and facilitates presentations for various youth related activities; attends Parent-Teacher Association meetings, presents information and discusses school related issues to student safety and law enforcement.

Two very important roles that the DARE officer plays is that he promotes the values and vision of the Alexandria Police Department and maintains relations with school principals and other key school personnel.

Our D.A.R.E. is part of a multi-jurisdictional unit comprised of officers from APD, Pineville Police and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
