Man Shot on Warshauer Street

(8/5/2019, 1135 hrs) On Saturday, August 3, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Alexandria Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the 2400 block of Huffman Street. While officers responded to the area, another officer patrolling the downtown area saw a vehicle traveling at high speed run the red light at the intersection of Main and Murray streets. This officer followed the car to Rapides Regional Medical Center, where the driver stopped, exited the car, and said the passenger was shot.

Mother Charged in Child’s Death

(7/23/2019, 1350 hrs) An Alexandria woman has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of her 5-year-old child on July 17.

Early that afternoon, the mother, Jasmine Anderson, brought the girl to a local hospital emergency room where doctors determined the child was deceased upon arrival. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Robbery Suspect Captured the Next Day

(7/19/2019, 1530 hrs) The Alexandria Police Department has made an arrest less than 24 hours following a robbery on a parking lot in the 2200 block of Memorial Drive. The victim reported a man with a gun demanded her purse in the early afternoon of July 18. Once she relinquished her purse, he fled the scene on foot and retrieved a bicycle that had been left behind the business. He rode away on the bike.

5-Year-Old Death Investigation

On July 17, around 2 pm, a 5-year-old girl was brought into the emergency room of a local hospital. The child was already deceased upon their arrival. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. An autopsy, performed on July 18, determined that the child died as a result of an injury to her neck.

At approximately 4 pm on July 18, APD Traffic Officers located the scene where the incident took place. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and continued the investigation.

McNutt Drive Standoff

(5/10/2019, 1600 hrs) At approximately 9:45 am, APD officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of McNutt Drive to a report of a man sitting in a car, holding a gun to his head. Officers arrived and found the man seated in his car and armed with a handgun. Crisis negotiators responded to the scene to open communications with the man. McNutt Drive was shut down and a perimeter established.

Bank Robbery Suspect Captured

(5/7/2019, 1530 hrs) A few minutes before 1:00 pm, APD patrol officers located and captured Joshua Blake Perry, who was identified as a suspect in a bank robbery that took place less than two hours earlier. Perry was found at a motel in the 1100 block of MacArthur Drive that he checked into around thirty minutes after the robbery.

Culpepper Road Attempted Murder / Suicide

(4/23/2019, 1245 hrs) On April 22, around 2:45 pm, APD officers responded to a report of a shooting at a trailer in the 3000 block of Culpepper Road. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man who had a wound on the back of his head, lying near a woman who was not moving. The woman, later identified as Corneisha Davis, 35, had an apparent gunshot wound to the side of her head. Emergency personnel responded quickly and treated the male, who was still responsive, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Attacks Officer, Tries to Steal Police Car

(4/9/2019, 1700 hrs) At around 3:15 this afternoon, APD Dispatch received a call about a man in the middle of the road, screaming and hitting cars as they passed, at the intersection of Shannon Road and Carl Street. Around the same time, one of the drivers saw two officers working a traffic detail nearby and flagged them down about the man in the road. One of the officers went to the intersection and encountered the suspect, who appeared intoxicated and was screaming obscenities.
