Suspect Attacks Officer, Tries to Steal Police Car

(4/9/2019, 1700 hrs) At around 3:15 this afternoon, APD Dispatch received a call about a man in the middle of the road, screaming and hitting cars as they passed, at the intersection of Shannon Road and Carl Street. Around the same time, one of the drivers saw two officers working a traffic detail nearby and flagged them down about the man in the road. One of the officers went to the intersection and encountered the suspect, who appeared intoxicated and was screaming obscenities.

Shooting on Monroe Street

(3/20/2019, 1920 hrs) At around 4:55 this afternoon, APD responded to a report of a shooting in the 2900 block of Monroe Street. Officers arrived and learned that a male subject had shot at another male on the parking lot of a business at the corner of Monroe and Kent Ave. A vehicle was hit during the shooting. Both the shooter and the apparent victim had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. As yet, we have received no information that anyone was hurt in the shooting. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and conducted their investigation.

Man Charged with Attempted Feticide-For-Hire

(3/8/2019, 0830 hrs) Earlier this week, APD detectives began an investigation into a report of an attempted "murder-for-hire" of an unborn child. Detectives received information that Mohammed Abudayeh had attempted to hire another man to attack Abudayeh's girlfriend with the intent of killing her unborn baby. During the investigation, detectives obtained credible information that the attack was to be staged as a robbery or something similar, and that the attack should concentrate on her stomach area.

Man Charged with Rape of Juvenile from 2017

(3/7/2019, 1130 hrs) In February, APD received a report of a juvenile that was raped on multiple occasions in 2017. Detectives working the case were able to establish that the three incidents took place when the victim was 13, and were committed by the same individual. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dmarcus Tucker, 24, who was located and taken into custody on March 4. Following his arrest, he attempted to run away from the transporting officer when they arrived at the jail.

Burglar Caught in Attic

(March 7, 1050 hrs) On March 4, around 8:15 pm, APD officers responded to a burglary-in-progress of a vehicle in the 300 block of Florence Ave. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect was no longer in the vehicle, having stolen a pair of shoes from the car and fled on foot. The complainant reported being in her home when she saw a hand coming through the dog door. She kicked at the hand and the man attached to it then ran to her car and got in as she called the police.

Man Arrested for Exposing Himself at Store

(3/7/2019, 1020 hrs) On March 2, APD responded to a store in the 6200 block of Coliseum Blvd to a report of a man exposing himself to a woman. Officers arrived and contacted the complainant, who reported that she had exited the store and was putting her three children in the car when a man started talking to her. The man, who was seated in his car, reportedly began touching himself while speaking to her and tried to stick his genitals out of the window. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Deceased Man Found in Truck

(2/27/2019, 1330 hrs) Around 12:10 today, APD responded to a report of a man found dead inside a parked 18-wheeler. Officers arrived at the scene, a parking lot in the 500 block of MacArthur Drive, and found a 56-year-old male dead inside the truck. The vehicle was locked and there were no immediate, outward signs of foul play. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived at the scene to begin their investigation. An autopsy will be performed to attempt to determine the cause of death. The name of the deceased is not being released, as notifications have not been made.

Electrician Charged with Home Improvement Fraud

(2/26/2019, 0900 hrs) On February 15, a homeowner contacted APD to report a fraud concerning a rental house in the 2200 block of Alma Street. The homeowner reported that in 2018, he hired an electrician, Brian Beebe, to do work on the house, paying over $2,000. According to the report, the homeowner inspected the house after Beebe told him the work was done and found that nothing was fixed, and a subsequent inspection by another electrician revealed no work had been done. After that, the homeowner made numerous attempts to contact Beebe and received no response.
